The Lexus RC F GT3 Is A Beautiful Way To Return To Racing

It’s been a long time coming but Lexus is ready for their RC F GT3 to hit the track this year. The Geneva motor show got a look at this beauty in its concept form nearly three years ago. For those of us looking forward to its track debut, the wait is finally over.

A Grueling First Race In America

Lexus isn’t looking to take it easy on the GT3 when they set their race schedule for 2017. Its first official race will be January 26th to 29th at the 24 Hours of Daytona Endurance Event. This puts the 3GT Racing team in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series in the GTD category.

Future Plans

Later on, the RC F GT3 will head to Japan to take its place in another series under a different team. The Super GT Series there will see this racer in the hands of LMcorsa. Its class for this event will be set at GT300 after slight reconfiguration to meet regulations.

With this car being the newest entry from Lexus, the teams behind it are eager to show it off. This means that there are already thoughts of building the car out to race across Europe as well. Competing here would mean that a fifth model specifically tailored to Euro rules and regulations would be created.

This all begins with the four existing models gaining ground in US and Japanese series. The team behind the creation of the 2017 Lexus RC FGT3 feels positive about their finished product. Not only are they ready to see the successes on the course but also feedback from fans. Check out the reveal video below to see the car on the go and ready to race in full form.

About James Murrell

I love to read about and research all sorts of vehicles from restored classics to top shelf supercars, monstrous offroaders to weird concept vehicles. I always have a vehicle build happening on one side of my garage for myself and a second bay open for my friends to come and build their dreams too.
