The 2016 Corvette Stingray And The Z06 Received New Design Packages And Many Little Improvements
The new Corvette is possibly the best ever and updating it without ruining it is a hard job. For the 2016 model year, Chevrolet did make some adjustments to it, but nothing that would compromise the exceptional styling, absolute impeccable driving characteristics and the character of the real modern muscle car. Revealing the 2016 Corvette Stingray and the Corvette Z06, Chevrolet presented us with a car that has been subtly improved, gently massaged and sensibly upgraded thus giving it subtle push upwards like it doesn’t want it to be any less desirable than it was up until this moment.
The most notable change is the addition of three all new color packages which definitely enable the buyers to get more personal with the customization process of the ‘Vette. Three design packages named Twilight Blue, Spice Red and Jet Black Suede are available for both carrosseries styles and they actually bring the most changes in comparison with the 2015 model. It seems that Chevrolet wanted to make use of some of its customization elements and create few packages on its own. Thus the Twilight Blue can be had with Shark Gray, Blade Silver, Arctic White or Night Race Blue exterior color and it receives equipment such as Shark Gray accent vents, polished Motorsport wheels, black or gray brake calipers, Wing rear on Stingray models regardless of the Z51 package, special Twilight Blue full-color interior color and Magnetic Ride Control now required on all versions.
Basically, apart from receiving new color schemes for the inside and for the outside, the new 2016 ‘Vette received a standard Wing rear spoiler and Magnetic Ride Control, which basically became something of a standard feature on the car.
Spice Red and Jet Black Suede design packages bring similar stuff to the 2016 Corvette Stingray and the Corvette Z06. The colors are different but the changes are basically the same.
The real novelty for the Jet Black Suede are red brake calipers, carbon flash exterior badges, special Jet Black sueded microfiber interior and carbon fiber (high gloss) interior trim plate. Obviously, the Jet Black design package brings a lot of cool stuff and we wouldn’t be surprised if everybody just went for it.
Interestingly, basically the same new elements can be found on the Corvette Z06 which did not receive anything too special or exclusive, expect it retained that monstrous 6,2 liter supercharged V8 we like so much.
Design packages are, of course, something that will set apart this ‘Vette from any other, but the real “hardware” changes include only a few interesting touches. Apart from receiving two new colors – Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat and Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat, the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette received a flat bottomed steering wheel (finally), new wheels and updated infotainment system.
As a refresher, the car is available with the beautiful 6,2 liter V8 with 455 HP as standard and with it it can achieve 60 mph in 3,8 seconds. The Z06 can definitely do some serious damage and it is so good it is actually an official Indy 500 pace car. This thing goes to 60 in less than 3 seconds. Sick.
