The 2015 Cadillac Escalade Is The Epitome Of American Style.

When it comes down to looking at what an SUV is, and what it does, the lines over the years have been changed so much so that these mighty vehicles we see today, are no longer qualified to be called SUV’s anymore. Now before you get started, this isn’t going to be a rant about how the mighty SUV has fallen, and died at the side of the road, no. This piece is going to somewhat celebrate it’s ultimate transformation into the Proud Family Car that it is today, and our shining example will be the 2015 Cadillac Escalade.

For 2015, General Motors wanted to make sure that there where no real similarities between their 3 major land yachts that they will producing during the upcoming model years. And like always the Cadillac version seems to find a way to look meaner, sexier, healthier, and more dashing than it’s cousins every single time it rolls off of the assembly line. First, and foremost the new Escalade has been giving that XTS LED lighting work to it’s front end, and it looks totally awesome. We already know that the Escalade is a massive vehicle, and has to be driven with respect, but this new look begs us to drive it hard, and ask questions later. Under the hood of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is stout 6.2L, EcoTec3 V8 aluminum motor that’s pumping out a decent sounding 420Hp, and 460lb feet of torque. Now in a vehicle this heavy, those numbers are respectable given the overall size of the vehicle, but I would love to here that an SUV rolls off the line with 500Hp, 520lb feet from the factory. That’s an attention getter right there!!! As it stands the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is the only SUV of it’s size to be fitted with Cadillac’s world renown Magnetic Ride Control, and for what this vehicle is, it’ll need every bit of it. Rolling stock for the Escalade comes in the form of either 20”, or 22” Aluminum wheels, and driving those wheels is a fully electronically controlled 6 speed automatic transmission, and holding it all together is an upgraded, and updated multi-link suspension system, that works in conjunction with the 3rd Generation Magnetic Ride Control.

If we move to the interior, you will find yourself in the lap of luxury, as you would with any Cadillac of this caliber. This new Escalade was designed to embody the ideal that whenever you are in this vehicle, it is not an option to feel like you are less then royalty. In other words the interior’s leather, suede, matching stitching, ambiance lighting, triple sealed doors, and other subtle nuances, make you feel like the richest person on earth. Added to the full luxurious feel, is the high level of modern day technology that sits at your fingertips at any given moment. Cadillac’s tech team wanted to step things up a bit, and so they made the CUE infotainment system a standard feature. This year, the CUE system has been enhanced to not only be more user friendly, but it also recognizes touches, and hand gestures by either the driver or passenger. Just like with the Galaxy S5, you can also wave your hand by the screen to activate certain options, and get the CUE system going. AM/FM/XM Radio, Blue-tooth Mobile Device pairing, In Dash CD/MP3 player, Sat-Nav, Hands Free Phone Calling, and many other features come with the CUE. For the driver, the CUE system is also an integral part of his 12 inch, programmable, reconfigurable, high resolution information screen that sits where any old analog gauges used to be.

Cadillac-Escalade_2015_interior dashBefore we move on, we have to mention how the safety in the 2015 Cadillac Escalade has been changed. An industry first, is having a center mounted air bag that deploys for the front passenger, in the event of a crash that takes place on the opposite side of the passenger. Add to this your normal, and standard features such as, lane departure, collision avoidance monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, side blind zone alerts, and rear cross traffic alerts for when you need to back out of a parking space.

The new 2015 Escalade is a massive luxury SUV that begs any one manufacturer to come forth with a challenge stating that, “Yours is better than mine.” This isn’t an SUV that has the ability to go off-road like a Mercedes Benz G Wagon, or a Range Rover, no not at all. This is a strictly on road, leather, and suede luxury home office on wheels, that just so happens to be doubling as the, “Family Car.” Go figure. The sheer look of the Escalade puts it on a planet where even the most expensive of SUV’s just won’t be able to compare to it. This new model starts at about $75K, and can go upwards of $90K, which is pretty damn high for an American SUV, but considering what all has gone into this vehicle, the way it performs, and the presence that it demands when it’s on the road………… some times the price just may justify the means. Thanks for Reading.

The Car scene is so diverse
Where I come from, most enthusiasts recognize the amazing engineering (particularly the engines). The bulk of the ridicule originates from the manner in which many of the vehicles are modded/maintained. Thus, the jokes and or hate tends to be aimed more at the owner rather than the machine. All of which makes seeing properly sorted old Toyota’s and Hondas at car meets, auto shows, and track days all the more refreshing.
