Guy Lassos Escaping Bike Thief!

Not necessarily motorcycle related, but still pretty damn cool. And at the end of the day, a bike thief is a bike thief. A.K.A: the scum of the earth. This is how one guy, his horse, and his lasso saved the day in South Oregon…It seems hard to believe right? But this actually happened. Take a look at the news report in the video below if you don’t believe us…

Introducing Robert Borba, champion bull rider and general cowboy extraordinaire… Whilst out grocery shopping (with his horse, Old Grey, obviously) our hero noticed a woman in distress, screaming that her bike had been stolen. Naturally, our protagonist mounted Old Grey and gave chase. Thanks to his rodeo training, Robert was able to lasso the escaping thief, pulling his legs from under him, saving the day – and on the first go, too. “I just roped him and the rope went down around his feet, and I just rode off like I would if I’d roped a cow or something by myself,” Mr. Borba said to NBC news.

The bike thief was roped up and restrained until the local enforcement arrived on the scene, and arrested the criminal for trying to steal the poor woman’ bike! It doesn’t matter that the thief was only trying to steal a bicycle. When it comes to vehicle theft…anyone brazen enough to give it a go needs locking up for a long time…

The whole thing sounds almost too good to be true, but true it is. And Robert has earned himself a local nickname too. Sometimes people call him the Lone Ranger, while others like to refer to him as the “John Wayne of Southern Oregon” – either way, we just hope he’s around to catch more low life thieves in the near future. Hopefully his lasso skills are good enough to rope us a few motorcycle thieves. Come on Robert, we know you can do it!

About Joe Appleton

I’ve done a bit of work here and there in the industry – I’ve even ridden a few bikes for actual money but what it comes down to is this: I ride bikes, build bikes and occasionally crash ‘em too. I like what I like but that certainly doesn’t make my opinion any more valid than yours…
