A Cop, a Cone and a Crash…Who’s To Blame?

Nothing says “stop” quite like a traffic cone…especially when it’s being thrown by a cop. Who’s to blame in this vid: the overzealous cop or the naughty biker?

Traffic cops are taking a new approach to stopping riders down in Argentina; as you can see in this video, one cop launches a traffic cone at a passing motorcyclist after he refuses to be pulled over. So who’s right and who’s wrong?

Well, no self-respecting law man should ever do such a dangerous deed. In recent times, heavy handed cops have been reprimanded for their actions and this case should be no different. In most countries, in a situation like this, the police officer would be up before a judge, for one crime or another. Some might even go as far as to call it “attempted murder” – others might give the cop the benefit of the doubt and give him a work suspension but damn, I don’t know what to think!

In the cops defense though, the rider failed to stop and was plainly planning to run that red-light at a busy intersection. He didn’t make it through but cone or not, there was another obstacle in his way, in the form of a car waiting to turn left. Ouch.

Who do you think is in the wrong? Throwing an object at a motorcyclist is a huge no-no, but driving that recklessly with a pillion is just plain stupid. I’ve got no opinion – what’s yours?

About Joe Appleton

I’ve done a bit of work here and there in the industry – I’ve even ridden a few bikes for actual money but what it comes down to is this: I ride bikes, build bikes and occasionally crash ‘em too. I like what I like but that certainly doesn’t make my opinion any more valid than yours…
