The Zagato Coupe. What’s in a name?

The most beautiful BMW to ever.

So, where shall we start today? Let’s bring ourselves to the table of BMW. It seems that BMW has been putting in some late hours over in their Munich plant in Germany. When all appeared lost for the Z4 model, the designers at BMW found a way to literally reinvent themselves. They found a world famous designing team, and produced a sexy new car that is based on the current Z4 platform, and it’s called the Zagato Coupe.

This model comes with a that recognizable Z4 shape, but miraculously has been made into something totally new. The styling cues are very futuristic, and stunningly eye catching.  This coupe’s looks are only the icing on this veritable smorgasbord of automotive beauty.  But I digress, let’s come back to earth real quick to explain a few things.  First off the name Zagato is primarily only known by car designers.  Ugo Zagato is the foundation of this indubitable, and very highly coveted consulting firm.  In the 1920′s Zagato was working with Alfa Romeo on various cars and projects, such as the 6C1500 & 6C1750 race cars. As time went on, the Zagato style, and flair incorporated itself to other great names such as Fiat, and Ferrari. Moving forward, Ugo Zagato passed away in 1968, and his legacy of artistic form, and design was handed over to his two sons, who have carried it on to bigger and greater heights. That brings us to why we are here today.  This 2014 Zagato Coupe is more than just an extravagant design, it is a symbolism of truth in all that can be accomplished with one’s own hands. The technology underneath it all, will be as always pure brilliance.  Even though, lips are sealed, it has been speculated that the Bavarian automaker has already put this work of art through it’s paces. Passing speed tests with the greatest of ease, stopping flawlessly, and performing figure 8′s better than Nancy Kerigan, this car will be envied by all. The leaked specs are that the power output will be around 400hp, & 415lb ft. of torque. This amount of talent can only be a good thing.  Right?   The recent showing of the car at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy this past May, BMW fans & haters alike could do nothing more but drool over how this car appealed to the designer at heart. After it was all said and done, the final question was simple. Well actually there were a few questions. Like when will it hit the market?  Who will be in charge of keeping the integrity of the car 100% wholesome? And finally the big question, how much? Everyone wants to know how much. The simplest answer would be, If you have to ask, then you probably can’t afford it. It sucks, but it’s normally true.  As of now the Zagato Coupe is nothing more than a physical dream, that has come to fruition, and is wandering the globe making appearances in hopes that BMW will put this masterpiece into production within the next two years. Whatever the cost, this magnificent vehicle, has already done its job, of stealing the hearts, and attention of all that have had the chance to gaze upon its pure elegance, in design.  The 2014 Zagato Coupe will be a small force that will shake the automotive scene to it’s core when it arrives. For those of us out there who are true designers at heart, this one is for you. Be sure to soak it all in, so as the form & function of this beauty on wheels, will do nothing more than inspire you to no ends.
