The 2015 McLaren MP2-12C
McLaren wants to bring engineering brilliance to more
The McLaren auto manufacturer has a ridiculous reputation for delivering cars that are nearly out of this world. With the now 20 year old McLaren F1 still able to dominate nearly every supercar to this day means that when their engineering team talks, you shut the hell up and listen like a good lad. The company is in the works of two prototypes and is looking to expand its operations from the impressive MP4-12C to an slightly cheaper entry model and then a halo car to be the successor to the F1.
The 2015 Mclaren MP2-12C
This vehicle looks to be focusing on weight and dropping two cylinder to produce a twin-turbo high revving all-aluminum V6 that will produce over 440 hp. This car looks to take on the likes of monsters such as the GT-R which is certainly no easy feat. Of course McLaren is one competitive Formula One builder so it is not like they are going to try and build something not as good. It appears that McLaren will stick to the Mid-Engine concept with a slightly smaller chassis. Most of the parts and systems are refined trickle-down components from the MP4-12C which we are certainly not complaining about; in fact we are gitty like a school girl.
2015 Mclaren MP2-12C Price
Look for the 2015 MP2-12C to start around $120k for the U.S. market. As to whether it can keep up or dominate the New Nissan GT-R leaves us some anticipation. As for the car, expect it to be a melting pot of aluminum and carbon fiber. Though we are sure most of the carbon fiber will be pricey add-ons. Expect to see some testing and spy photos popping up around the Top Gear track as McLaren looks to make this thing a rocket. As for the F1 successor we are dreaming of all sorts of wonderful things but for now we need to look at a car that we actually might be able to afford if we just sell a few vital organs for.
