New look for 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO
This month the new 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show. The model will go on sale in the United States this summer. The vehicle follows the NISMO trend and has some new characteristics both on the outside and the inside of the car.
According to Nissan Americanas’ Vice President of Product and Advanced Planning and Strategy Pierre Loing the new NISMO is paving the way for more NISMO cars to follow. The 2014 370Z NISMO is an attainable race monster. It offers 350 horsepower and has a race inspired interior and exterior styling.
The V6 engine has a new dual exhaust system, it achieves 16hp over the standard car and the torque has increased from 244 to 273 lb ft. This results in a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds, which is a tenth quicker than the standard car. Nissan says that the throttle response has improved greatly and that the car will be quicker than these statistics however.
Also the aerodynamics of the new model have improved. The bumper up front sticks out and the diffuser at the rear of the car help to better the airflow under the car. These features, together with the big spoiler at the back of the NISMO, give the car a grip comparable to the Nissan GT-R. Also from the GT-R come the brakes that have high-rigidity hoses and a high performance brake fluid. To raise handling and stability the chassis setup and suspension have been re-engineered extensively.
The upgrade package is quite all-embracing, but let’s take a look at the price. Nissan tries to challenge the Porsche Cayman as their main rivals, which they undercut by roughly £10,000. Although the price has not been made public the new 2014 NISMO 370Z is expected to be sold for £40,000.
