Ex-Top Gear Hosts Sign With Amazon Prime

Finally, we can all see an end to the speculation and internet rumors: the former cast of Top Gear have now signed a deal with Amazon Prime. There isn’t much news at the moment, but we can guarantee that when Clarkson, Hammond and May re-unite together on screen, it will be one of the most anticipated TV events of 2016.

After the “fracas” and spectacular coup that followed, the world was left with baited breath wondering what would happen to the trio and the world’s most successful factual TV show – but now we know. Chris Evans will be taking the helm on the BBC and Clarkson, Hammond and May are off to pastures new. In fact, James May said: “We have become part of the new age of smart TV. Ironic, isn’t it?” whilst discussing the new deal with Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime is an online subscription based TV and movie content service that has reportedly put “significant investment” into the trio’s new show.

According to Amazon Prime Video’s EU vice-president, Jay Marine: “Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen…We can’t wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.” We can’t wait either. The only other thing that we do know is that the new format won’t include The Stig… If you were one click away from sending off your CV, you’d better hold back…
