5 Great Cars for Families

A family car needs to be roomy enough for the whole family, have plenty of cargo space and be a safe vehicle. It seems that families today are busier than ever. When you’re on the go that much you spend a lot of time in your car, so it should be spacious and comfortable. Here are five great automobiles for families.

Honda Odyssey At the top of the list, the Honda Odyssey, with its dual sliding doors and seating for as many as 8 adults cannot be over-looked. There is an incredible amount of space in this minivan and it can be configured into several different layouts, depending on the amount of people riding and what cargo you may be hauling. The third row seat can even be folded down into the floorboard, completely flush with the floor. There is room for the whole crew, and of course, the Honda Odyssey earned a five star rating for safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Get one for around $28,000.

Ford Flex

The Ford Flex with its interesting square styling and body lines is another great family car. The crossover seats seven comfortably and has 355 hp if you choose the twin-turbo V6. The accessories list for the Ford Flex is incredible. Did you know that you can get a mini-fridge in your flex? How’s that for family friendly? There are four doors for ease of entry for all passengers. Even the third-row is not very difficult to get to. The leg room in the first two rows is abundant, though the third might be a little cramped for adults. The Ford Flex also received a 5 star crash safety rating. It starts at around $29,000.

Ford Taurus

The Ford Taurus is a full sized family car that is stylish enough and fun enough to be thought of as a sports car. The newly designed body style makes for a beautiful automobile. There is seating for five and miles of leg room. It’s a four door, but you’ll love the looks you get when driving the Ford Taurus. There are great features, such as bluetooth connectivity for phones and mp3 players. My children love the ambient floor lighting in eight different colors. And of course with Ford, you get award winning safety. The Ford Taurus starts around $25,000.

Hyundai Elantra Touring

Hyundai surrounds you in safety. There are six airbags in the Hyundai Elantra Touring and an Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System. There is seating for five with plenty of leg room for the kids. When you need to haul larger cargo the rear seats lay down and the hatchback swings up revealing a large cargo space.

Subaru Outback

There is seating for five and you can get the family out of the city for a while with 8.7 inches of clearance under the Subaru Outback. The vehicle is a rugged wagon made for getting you through rougher terrain, but it is not without luxury.
