2013 Infiniti gets more into performance
The 2013 Infiniti line up it starting to see a conservative special performance line dubbed IPL (Infinity Performance Line). IPL was introduced with the intent to draw in people that love speed and special editions. I like the fact that they are at least trying. BMW has M, Mercedes has AMG, Porsche has Ruf, Dodge has SRT, Fiat has Abarth, Subaru has STI, Ford has Saleen, Shelby and Roush, GM has the V series, Lexus has the F series, even Nissan has Nismo so it’s about time that they decided to make Infinity join the game.
The 2013 IPL Infiniti Hybrid
The 2013 Infiniti G37 IPL is subtle with a funky Hyundai front Fascia, good looking wheels and side seals, and angry bumblebee exhaust tips. It almost looks like the zit faced Asian kid finally got hit project cars’ shit together. The exhaust tips are huge and for looks mostly but they did spruce up the interior at least. So now the IPL department wants the GT-R to mate with its concept and call it the 2013 Infiniti Essence and here is where things get wacky. That beautiful 3.7L twin turbo mated with an Infinity Hybrid drive system will get you from 0 to 88 mph leaving flaming tire marks before you can say the name of the movie this scene is from. We are looking at over 600 Horsepower with a ridiculous low end torque electric motor pushing power to the front wheels while the back wheels are melted by the 3.7 liter. This is what the F@!$ I am talking about. It is technology that gives me hope for the future while all I can picture when I see a Prius is the movie “Demolition Man” where it’s a liberal utopia and Wesley never makes it through the thaw stage.
Ok you’re insane but what else you got for Infiniti 2013?
If Infiniti can focus on the two main luxury customers of today Eco-luxury and Sport-Luxury and produce cars like the Infiniti Essence (Sounds like a Calvin Klein Douche) they will draw in the M6 and S6 customers as well as Ruf and AMG customers too. For other hybrid technology they can soup up the Infiniti M Hybrid and G Hybrid and therefore gain some ground in the new era of Infiniti Hybrid technology. If they were awesome they would do an Infiniti Leaf and slap the 3.7 liter engine from the GT-R in it and make me the happiest person on the road. Infiniti will continue to try new ideas although I don’t know how far Nissan will let them stray but I do know that they need to work with companies like Stillen who can do stages of performance that will be covered under factory warranty, kinda like Roush does for mustang. I like infinity although their styling doesn’t always sit well with me but at least they are out there trying new ideas and you can’t blame them for that.
