2013 Chevrolet Spark – Jumping Puddles Around the World
The Spark has been available to most places in the world except North America. That all changes in 2013. The Spark will be barreling around out city streets and stealing tiny little parking spots out from under our noses. It has developed its own culture by owners creating their own commercial footage. And with 5 year/100,000 mile warranty it’s little wonder its first choice for many buyers.
Chevrolet firmly believes that small and economical shouldn’t mean cheap and boring. Regardless of the condition of your bank
account, everyone deserves a fun ride they can be proud of. So Chevrolet has included everything from their MyLink with its 7-inch diagonal color touch-screen within close reach and easy access to music and entertainment. Each 2013 Chevrolet Spark comes with a six-speaker sound system linked into a three-month trial of SiriusXM Satellite Radio. There is full access to your personal playlists, Pandora stations or Stitcher SmartRadio favorites by connecting smartphone to Chevrolet MyLink. It accomplishes thins by using Bluetooth wireless technologyor the USB port. And of course you can download the OnStar RemoteLink mobile appto your smartphone as well. This enables you to retrieve vehicle information or send turn-by-turn directions to your Spark. There is an impressive 31.2 cubic feet of cargo space. It is the ideal 5 door hatchback for the city. This provides plenty of room for passengers to join the party and surprising ease getting in and out.
The Spark motors along, powered by a 1.2L I-4 engine with Variable Valve Timing, to ensure the engine runs at maximum efficiency. The transmission is a 5-speed manual that will achieve an estimated 32/38 mpg city/highway. But there’s also a
4-speed automatic transmission available which will get you 28/37 mpg average. The performance is designed mainly for city so it’s not surprising it runs at a paltry 8hp making 80lb/ft of torque. The frame is tight and stiff so there’s positive communication between the road and the driver. Eventually there will be an EV version of the Spark available in North America. But it seems for now they want to start with a classic gas driven motor. It comes loaded with a comprehensive safety package including 10 air bags, electronic stability control with traction control and brake assist.
The 2013 Chevrolet Spark will have a starting base price of $12,995. This makes it an ideal economy car for the city and student drivers alike. Of course the cost rises from there should you opt for the cool wheels and fully optioned trim. But at most the Spark will run you $15,045. The Spark 2LT is the top trim package and includes extra goodies like heated leatherette front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel on the inside with chrome accents, foglamps, 15″ machined-face aluminum wheels with dark gray-painted pockets
and unique fascias on the outside. Whether or not its worth the extra few grand to option it out is up to you.
