1970 Cuda with 528 Hemi

king_kong_cuda_large_03-640x426 When a big fish like this roles into town, you have a unanimous clinching of the sphincters. Its vicious temper and growl is enough to call a town meeting and get Roy Schneider to pee his pants a little with the thought of having to fight this beast. We here at Gearheads have to even check our shorts whenever we were first presented with a 1970 Cuda with 528 Hemi engine.

Starting with a 426 Hemi and boring it and stroking it and kissing it makes for a power plant that can push-start planets into rotation. What you start seeing is that this fish be fishing with the steering wheel missing. Well it’s not missing but it is a right-hand drive! Why, because this Cuda is down under. Yes the Australians have the same rebel attitude as the rest of us “once” colonials that won our independence. We must go bigger, if the British love the straight six-cylinder then let’s up it and make a beast that is an alpha predator. king_kong_cuda_large_04-640x426The “King Kong Cuda” is what Graeme Cowin dubbed his beauty as it was built to be bulky, bad and take hold of the beauties. The power train for the 70 Cuda is of course the massive 526 Indy Hemi that although never dyno’ed the owner claims a 900hp rating. All this power is connected to a 727 B&M tranny sent to a 9″ Strange rear-end.king_kong_cuda_large_07-640x426 king_kong_cuda_large_08-640x426Suspension comes in the form of a custom independent front-end and sits on airbags produced by air-ride technologies. Baer 6-piston brakes, 18×7’s up front and 20×10’s stilettos wrapped in Pirelli P-Zeros. king_kong_cuda_large_06-640x426 king_kong_cuda_larger
